Mahikeng: North West representative at the National Assembly, Supra Mahumapelo will not vote with the African National Congress in parliament to establish a commission to investigate the fitness of estranged Public Protector Busisiwe Mokwebane to hold office.
The former premier of the North West now chairs the portfolio committee on Tourism in the national parliament. He has recently written to the ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule and made it clear that he will not support the opposition in pushing a motion against Mokwebane. Mahumapelo has been labelled a supporter of Mokwebane after commending her for doing a great job in January 2020. He has since reiterated that he will not support any DA sponsored motion.
“Myself as an ANC MP,I will not vote for the DA motion coming in a form of a panel report for the removal of the public protector unless the ANC has changed its ideological posture towards parties such as the DA” said Mahumapelo.
The DA has been calling for the impeachment of the Public Protector which is due to be tabled today. The constitutional court has ruled against her bid to have that matter ruled unconstitutional.
