Tlokwe: The Department of Agriculture and rural development on Thursday, September 10 handed over 31 culled cattle to the Department of Social Development. The department said the meat was to meet food shortages experienced by impoverished families through the COVID 19 Lockdown period. MEC Desbo Mohono handed the 31 cattle to be slaughtered to MEC Boitumelo Moiloa at the Potchefstroom College of Agriculture.
“Working with the provincial Department of Social Development, deserving households will be identified and the meat will be distributed to them especially child-headed homes. The gesture of donating the meat is to contribute towards fighting food and nutrition insecurity and restoring the dignity of the most vulnerable people in the province” Mohono said.
